If you force SC4 to use XP compatibility mode it works just fine under Win 7 (and I would venture to guess that means it does in Vista, too).

Right-click SimCity 4.exe in the SC4 installation folder and select Properties. Go to the Compatibility tab in the Properties window, check "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)" from the drop-down.

Hit OK and give it a go.

I posted to this but apparently they don't like the way I communicated about VISTA.

I have the same problem as those above, and no none of their suggestions worked for me, its just too bad I cannot post some good information without it being removed.

Guess this will be my last post here, seeing as they will just delete this one also :(

Wolfpup wrote "(one thing I love about Microsoft is how they keep supporting older programs/methods of doing things…best in the industry at that)."

IMHO, this isn't true. Although I do not use an apple machine, I did in the past and from what I have noticed, Apple keeps their programs all the way through their new OS's, so there is no need for supporting older applications as they consistently update/upgrade their same software with every OS release.

Thus, Apple wins my favor in this area, as windows always finds a way to fail me with compatibility; just look at the new Internet Explorer 8, the most retarded Browser ever!! I have installed the crappy thing on more then 10 PC's which all end up with the same problem no matter the hardware/software configuration.

That problem being that the FORM boxes on all webpages are tiny and the text is impossible to read, there is no known fix online (that I could find) other than to hold down CTRL and SCROLL with the middle mouse button, but that just enlarges everything to the point I feel like I am handicapped!! and yet the text is still micro tiny.

What a pathetic release of IE for VISTA which was also the same BS M$ released for Windows 98 SE, which was ME, just a Graphical User Interface cover-up of a perfectly good OS!! Why not keep the same layout as XP and just add the new AREO UI? Why make us happy users only to disappoint us with rage with anger?

Nothing gets better with Microsoft, they failed at Windows 95, Regular 98 version, ME, 2000 and after finally creating XP they have F#&*%&D it up again! Why should I have to rely on the OS to fix itself in a manner which doesn't do much for a solid repair when I can just fix it myself? XP gives me options whereas VISTA just leaves me in the dark (mind the pun ;).

I know my post is a little off topic and getting long, so I will sum it up.

M$ doesn't compete with Apple at all, they just fail and try to copy Apple's own unique grapic capablities, but M$ is stupid, they don't let users have control of the OS forcing them to 'hack' it and what's the point in a Browser Upgrade if you cannot even log into your email without the use of Accessibilty or a magnifying glass?!!!

I have a Q8200 2.33GHz quad processor with a 1GB 9800gt with 2GB of RAM on a vista 32-bit and SC4 lags whenever I scroll through even a blank piece of landscape. I heard somewhere that DX10 cards have problems with this game or is my RAM too low? Is there a patch that can fix these problems? Thanks!
