3G Network in Huntsville, AL
Published January 4th, 2008 in Technology Tags: 3g, alabama, at&t, cell phone, huntsville, wirelessIn December, AT&T launched the 3G Network in Huntsville, AL. For some of you that does not mean too much. However, if you use a smart phone, then you will reap the benefits of higher speeds with data transfers and internet usage on your phone. A 3G network has been in place in Birmingham, AL for some time now.
This also means that I can finally use my AT&T Sync phone at my apartment that had been collecting dust on my computer desk. I had a Nokia that got good reception at my apartment (usually anywhere between two and six bars). I bought the AT&T Sync in August before the roll out of the 3G network. I would have dropped calls and no signal on my phone at random times. While the Sync was a great improvement over the Nokia from a usability standpoint, I could not use the Sync at my apartment, so I had to go back to my Nokia. With the 3G network now in place, at my apartment I get fix to six bars anywhere in my apartment. I am waiting to call someone and see if the call quality has improved as well.
