Why does the traditional public elementary school in the United States only teach the basics of reading, writing, and arithmetic?  Sure the methods taught in elementary school are enough to get by in middle school, high school, college, and beyond, but it isn’t enough to excel at those things.  What about speed reading?  What about alternative methods of doing math?  What about creativity?

An advanced curriculum may challenge those who think school is boring.  Those who think school is boring may seek other activities to fulfill their time.  A more advanced curriculum that teaches not only the basics but more advanced methods of reading, writing, and math will challenge students to think, and will also give those students a distinct advantage in the real world.
