This is my first installment of my Only in Alabama blog posts.  These types of posts will talk about things that occur in the great state of Alabama that you would not usually see anywhere else.

This first installment concerns TV coverage of breaking news.  Today Nick Saban was announced as the new head coach of the University of Alabama.  Today was also the funeral of former President Gerald Ford.  Guess which event Alabama TV stations cover?  Yep, you guessed it, the arrival of Nick Saban to Tuscaloosa.  Gee whiz, a new head coach’s arrival is much more important than the funeral of a former leader of the free world?  Who woulda thunk it?
