NASA to build Moon base by 2024

NASA has revealed plans to build a permanent outpost on the lunar surface by 2024.  Construction will begin in 2020 shortly after the United States’ return to the Moon.  Most likely the base will be built on or near one of the Moon’s poles because there is better exposure to sunlight, especially at the southern pole.

Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL will be responsible for the development of the lunar lander which will not only serve for the exploration of the Moon’s surface but will also serve as a construction vehicle.
