After acquiring the online word processor Writely, Google is seeking to continue to build an online alternative to Microsoft Office by developing an online spreadsheet program. Appropriately named Google Spreadsheets, the program allows you to create basic spreadsheets and save them in either CSV (Comma Separated Values) format or in the Microsoft Excel format (XLS). Documents created with this online program can be shared with others with a Google account.
