Why have separate accounts for AIM, MSN, Yahoo when you can just have one?
0 Comments Published May 19th, 2006 in Interesting, TechnologyI would love to learn more about getting a single account that allows me to have one account to access AIM, MSN, and Yahoo at the same time, and I would especially like to setup a Jabber server on this website for me to use, but the instructions that I have found require me to […]
Bands and music without profiteering
1 Comment Published May 15th, 2006 in Media/TV/Internet, TechnologyA new band, The Fall, has been able to band together a community to accomplish what a commericial operation could never dream of doing: report at all the band’s concerts and upload MP3’s of the performances within a few hours of the concerts. The Fall is a great example of a band that […]
Digital camera, printer software more bloated than ever
0 Comments Published May 15th, 2006 in TechnologyHave you bought a new digital camera or printer recently? Have you noticed how much stuff you have to install to get it to work? As the sizes of hard drives have risen, so has the footprint that digital camera or printer software leaves on your hard drive. Printer and digital camera software has gotten so bloated that it boggles the mind.
MSN Messenger and Trillian MSN Plugin kills internet connection
0 Comments Published May 15th, 2006 in Personal, TechnologyFor some strange reason, when I try to use the MSN plugin in Trillian and sign into MSN, my connection here no longer works. At first I tried it on my mom’s computer before the wireless network was set up. After a few minutes of signing in, the internet connection died, and the […]
Having a qualified labor force is a huge prerequisite for growth
0 Comments Published May 13th, 2006 in Local IssuesThis Daily Mountain Eagle story hits the nail on the head about what Walker County and surrouding counties need to do to take advantage of future I-22 when it is completed. Some people realize that we need more than a bunch of service and retail jobs in Walker County, and I am happy that […]
Followup: Wireless network up and running!
0 Comments Published May 13th, 2006 in Personal, TechnologyI am typing this post on my computer after setting up the wireless network with a new wireless-g router (IEEE 802.11g). This router was a sinch to set up, although I had to change some DSL modem settings so that my ISP would accept using a router to share the internet connection.
I am a […]
I have never been a huge fan of President Bush. Some decisions he has made have been worthy ones, but most of them have been shortsighted, far-reaching decisions that we are reaping the worst of now. This isn’t a Republican issue, and this isn’t a Democratic issue. It ain’t a conservative issue, and it ain’t a liberal […]
As I stay here at my mothers until August when I move into an apartment of my own, I long to be able to have internet access on my computer, which is faster and better for me to use. I went on eBay and bought a factory-refurbished Linksys Wireless-B Broadband Router for $32.00, including shipping. […]
Are website forums an addition or something?
0 Comments Published May 8th, 2006 in Media/TV/Internet, PersonalEver since about 2001, I have been drawn to website forums. I have met people on forums, and I have even ran a forum for two years. I don’t know what draws me to forums; I guess people having a civil conversation about a subject in one forum and people just chilling and discussing a […]
Last Thursday was kickout day for all UAH dorms. Accordingly, I packed my belongings and made the 90 mile trek home. It is somewhat good to be back home, but I will miss the social aspect of living in the dorms, seeing that I will be getting my own apartment for Fall 2006.
Living in the […]
