Today an attorney was abducted from downtown Birmingham, AL. A white, female attorney abducted by a black man. What a juicy story for the media to gobble up. And the local media did just that, providing updates as they occurred. At about 5:30 PM the attorney and the suspect were found. Some twenty minutes later media outlets are still on TV to cover this story. I am glad that they were found and that the attorney was not killed or seriously injured, but if this were a black woman or someone else, there would not be near as much attention garnished to this story.

The missing white, affluent Natalee Holloway has garnished tons and tons of TV coverage on local and national TV (most notably Fox News), but there are many other missing people out there. Do they get even a fraction of the media coverage that Natalee Holloway has received? Not a chance. Why is that? It is because one rarely hears of a teenage, white, affluent girl being abducted in a foreign country? Is it because the girl is attractive? Is it because the media is racist? Is it because the media listens to those that have money?

Take a look at the sheer amount of coverage on TV today about this white and wealthy female attorney and you be the judge.
