Whew…what a week it was
Published April 2nd, 2006 in PersonalLast week was a trying week. Not only will I probably not get a co-op job for the summer, but my computer also decided it had enough. My primary hard drive, a Seagate 40 GB ATA-100, was in its final throws.
My windows installation, nine months old at this point, was acting really quirky. Firefox would freeze up upon launch, and my system would completely freeze up or work extremely slow. My hard drive was making increasingly worse clunking sounds, indicating its eventual failure. So I figured until I can get another hard drive, I would back all of my important things onto my Western Digital 120 GB SATA drive and format the other hard drive.
After I formatted and reinstalled, the older hard drive began making worse noises, and the new windows installation would completely freeze for a few seconds for some reason. After installing my drivers for my SATA drive, the SATA drive would appear under My Computer for a few seconds, and then it would disappear. When this occured the system would freeze. I don’t know what is causing that problem; I hope that drive is not going bad as well, but I would not be surprised about anything these days.
Since I will be off for the summer in all likelikhood, I may drive around part of the country to see what it has to offer. This is a dream of mine, so I hope I can fulfill it this summer. I also may have a career in truck driving to fall back on just in case I don’t make it as a Civil Engineer.
you should definantly try to drive through parts of the country this summer that would be a lot of fun.
I would like to, but it all depends on how much money I would have. It may be scaled down to the southeast or something, but one of these days I am gonna travel the country.
