Bush still calls the shots against terrorists and rogue nations
Published March 16th, 2006 in PoliticsPresdient Bush stands behind his decision to invade Iraq, and he backed up this decision on Thursday by reaffirming his first-strike policy against terrorists and rogue nations. Bush believes that threats should be met before they evolve into terrorist acts against Americans. Bush also believes that “we may face no greater challenge from a single country than from Iran.”
Why is Bush referring to Iran as a “challenge” while his administration thought that we could roll into Iraq and achieve total victory in a matter of months? Even more, what are we doing in Iraq in the first place? No WMD’s were found there, and there is little to no evidence to suggest that Iraq possessed WMD’s before we arrived on the scene. And where’s that link between Al-Qaeda and Iraq that has been mentioned? Primary front of the War on Terror they say? I don’t think so. We had no business invading Iraq no matter how much evidence was fabricated to suggest that Iraq posed an immeidate threat.
North Korea and Iran pose greater threats to American and world security due to their ambitions to develop nuclear weapons. An ICBM from North Korea could reach the west coast of the United States. But did we invade these countries, or even launch air strikes to take out valuable targets? No, we didn’t. We haven’t. Instead, we are fighting a war in Iraq for what seems to be no purpose.
