Microsoft’s solution to prevent piracy…use Apple
Published by codyg1985 February 25th, 2006 in HumorOn Microsoft’s piracy section of their website, there is a banner at the top of the page. However, if you look closely, that banner shows a person holding an Apple iBook. Perhaps Microsoft is suggesting that people use Apple computers to combat piracy?
On p2p websharing systems, such as Ares or KazAa, if there are many files which have the same name as files that would be popular downloads, for example if there are many available songs named “Enigma - Gravity of Love”, and the actual content of the song is public speeches by John Doe, then eventually people will get tired of trying to pirate the song. People could notice that these available songs are available from the same set of users, for example, one might say, hey the last time I got a song which wasn’t a song it was from hus221@Ares.com, so they wouldn’t download from that person. So then if the hus221 name is changed every day it will help. All you would need to do in order to fund this is pay for people to create fake software/video/music/documents and publish them with exact names of other software/video/music/documents. I think one computer can download 12 Ares’ and 12 KazAa’s with 12 different usernames, so in theory one computer could really put a dent in one field like the field of new age music for example…I guess other ideas could be used simultaneously…I don’t have any other ideas though…Thanks for your time.
