Alabama still will not play a role in presidential primaries
Published February 10th, 2006 in PoliticsThanks to a defeat of a bill to move up the Alabama Presidential Primary, the state of Alabama will still vote for the Republican and Democratic candidates for President–long after it has already been decided by the majority of the country. The reason for the defeat: it would cost $3.4 million to move the primary to an earlier date.
Alabama would receive more national attention, including from the candidates , if the primaries were moved up. Candidates would spend money in Alabama, which would probably pay for moving the primary, and then some. Instead, thanks to a few state house members, we remain at the bottom of the list, as we do in almost everything else.
And we all wonder why Alabama is the butt of so many jokes?
