A thought occured to me today. All of the cartoon shows that I watch (The Simpsons, King of the Hill, Futurama, Family Guy, American Dad) all feature characters that seemingly wear the same outfit on a day-to-day basis. Other sitcoms that are not animated have characters that change clothes from one episode to the next.

I wonder why that is the case. Perhaps it is for character recognition purposes. However, there are other features of the character that make them easy to recognize outside of the outfit. Or maybe the animators don’t wish to redraw the character for each episode with a new outfit.

Just a thought.
